In 2022, when the weight started to come off, I started to engage with physical fitness. I quickly  found a deep connection to training, to racing, and just the simple act of moving my body. Movement became my medicine. The discipline, courage and grit required to face fear, discomfort, the physical exhaustion that came with racing? That drive to do it - to race again, and again, and again? It was validation for me. I already had these qualities. I just needed to wake them up.

There was a pivotal moment in my life when I was driving to the gym. As I made my way to the 5 AM class, it finally clicked that I would have to do this for life. Exercise was no longer an “option.” It was a requirement. And it would have to be lifelong.

When I started “exercising.”

There was a turning point in the last year where I finally recognized that for me, exercise became a lifestyle. I wasn’t just checking a box and then moving on with my day. I was living the life of an athlete.
